Dallas Fan Expo was an absolute blast, filled with incredible cosplays, celebrity sightings, and unforgettable moments!
Cosplay Extravaganza
The creativity and dedication of the cosplayers at Fan Expo Dallas were truly remarkable. We saw some truly standout costumes that left us in awe:
Wolverine: One of the most realistic cosplays we encountered was the Wolverine. I took pictures with him, and his attention to detail was incredible. He's definitely a top contender for "Cosplay of the Year."
Mr. T: Another phenomenal costume was Mr. T. He was spot on, looking exactly like a young Mr. T. We heard he even did the voice for the real Mr. T and that Mr. T said it was "fabulous!"
Ellie and Joel from The Last of Us: We saw a fantastic duo dressed as Ellie and Joel from The Last of Us, looking just like their video game counterparts. They were truly fabulous.
Cinderella: A gorgeous Cinderella was also spotted, and she looked so sweet taking pictures with little kids.
Creepy Ronald McDonald: One memorable (and slightly unsettling) costume was the "Creepy Ronald McDonald" guy. He seemed to be from a YouTube channel called Rocka Rocka, known for a sketch where Ronald McDonald gets disgruntled during a commercial shoot.
Intricate Anime Characters: There were many intricate and beautiful anime costumes, showcasing the incredible effort cosplayers put into their craft, even if we didn't know all the specific characters. The Arcane characters from the Netflix series particularly stood out.
Supergirl and Tall Wonder Woman: We also saw an amazing Supergirl and a truly towering Wonder Woman. She was so tall, we thought she might be on stilts, but she was just naturally Amazonian, looking like she could beat everyone's ass!
X-Men and Star Wars Characters: While we didn't see as many X-Men cosplays as hoped, there were some, and we also explored the Star Wars section with the Jawas and their glowing eyes.
Five Nights at Freddy's and Call of Duty: Other notable cosplays included an intricate character from Five Nights at Freddy's (a rabbit, not an Easter egg!), and many Call of Duty-type characters.
Rockstar Stormtrooper: A highlight was a Stormtrooper with a Mohawk and a guitar, looking like a total rockstar! He even had a little speaker, so we think he might have been playing music.
Celebrity Encounters
Meeting celebrities is always a highlight, and Fan Expo Dallas delivered!
Tom Welling: One of the most exciting encounters was with Tom Welling. Issa got to talk directly to him, and he was a complete gentleman. We even learned how to properly word our media requests to avoid confusion about interviews, which Tom was very gracious about explaining due to his contract.
John Boyega: We also had a positive interaction with John Boyega. His representative was fine with us having him in the background of our recording, and John Boyega himself even reacted positively to Chris's costume as Chris walked away. It was a missed opportunity for a direct engagement, but still cool!
Seth Green and Breckin Meyer: Our initial attempts to get celebrities on camera were a bit fumbled, especially with Seth Green and Breckin Meyer. They had a private conversation right in front of us, and Seth's friend Breckin Meyer seemed to signal "no" when asked if they could be in the background. It was a learning experience about wording our requests!
Overall, Fan Expo Dallas was a fantastic experience, full of memorable costumes and exciting celebrity interactions.
