Alright, movie fans, listen up! Joy and I just got out of seeing The Naked Gun reboot with none other than Liam Neeson. Yes, the Liam Neeson! And let me tell you, this movie was outrageously funny.
Expecting Dad Jokes, Getting Non-Stop Giggles
Before walking in, I braced myself for some classic "dumb comedy" – you know, '90s-style dad jokes and slapstick. And I got all of that and more! What really struck me was how it completely outshone the older Naked Gun movies, which we actually rewatched recently. While the originals were "good," they definitely felt like products of their '80s and '90s era. This new one, however, felt fresh and incredibly current in its humor.
We were literally laughing every three minutes. That's how consistently funny it was. It's hands down the funniest movie I've seen in a long time in a theater.
Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson: A Surprisingly Funny Duo
I didn't even realize for the longest time that Pamela Anderson was Liam Neeson's love interest in the film! Turns out, they're dating in real life, which is pretty cool. Their chemistry on screen was surprisingly delightful and added another layer to the humor.
The "Soft Spot" Fight Scene
One of the highlights, for me, was a particular fight scene near the end of the movie. Liam Neeson's character is squaring off against the bad guy (who's actually the axe murderer from American Horror Story, so he's already got that villain vibe down). Neeson throws a punch right to the gut, and the bad guy instantly doubles over, whimpering in a high-pitched voice, "You punched me in the soft spot of my tummy!" Neeson's reaction — "What? Have you ever been in a fight?" — was just gold. The bad guy insists he has, but not like that. It was such a stupidly brilliant moment, I was cracking up.
This movie is just stupid funny in the best way possible. If you appreciate immature humor (and let's be honest, most of us do!), then this is definitely for you.
Our Verdict: Go See It!
This isn't just a "fun" movie like, say, Happy Gilmore 2 (which is good in its own right). The Naked Gun is absolutely hilarious. It has its moments of subtle humor but mostly it's just laugh-out-loud funny from start to finish. We definitely recommend seeing The Naked Gun in theaters. You won't be disappointed!
