Predators: Killer of Killers – The Ultimate Daddy Issues Amalgam Just in Time for Father's Day!

Updated: 2 days ago

Hey movie maniacs! Chris Fagan here, fresh off a late-night viewing that blew my mind – and just in time for Father's Day! We're talking about the new animated flick, Predators: Killer of Killers, and let me tell you, this movie is the perfect amalgam of daddy issues. Right off the bat, I knew I was in for something special, and it delivered in spades. If you're looking for an exhilarating ride with some deep, resonant themes (and some serious Predator action!), you've found it.

What Predators: Killer of Killers does brilliantly is weave three distinct, action-packed stories, each dripping with some serious paternal drama, all while being hunted by our favorite alien trophy collectors. First up, we're thrown into 841 AD (I think!), following a fierce Viking woman on a relentless quest for revenge. Her mission? To avenge her father, who commanded her to "avenge me" even as he fell. This wasn't just a fight for survival; it was a rampage fueled by filial duty, all under the watchful eye of a cunning Predator. The daddy issues were thick in this one, setting a powerful emotional tone right from the start.

Then, we leap to 16th Century Japan, where a tale of two brothers, pitted against each other by their own father, unfolds. Talk about daddy issues! This segment finally gives us what we've always craved: Predators vs. NINJAS and SAMURAI! To see a Predator observing these stealthy, acrobatic warriors, almost impressed by their skill before moving in for the kill – it was everything you wanted and more. The agility, the precision, the sheer audacity of these human combatants going up against a technologically advanced hunter… it was absolutely amazing. This story was a masterclass in blending cultural combat styles with classic Predator hunting.

The third story rockets us to 1941-42, right in the heart of World War II. Here, a young man faces a Predator not on the ground, but in the air, in an exhilarating aerial dogfight! This was a brilliant break from tradition. We've seen humans outsmart Predators with brute strength or wilderness cunning, but never before have we seen a Predator's aerial combat technology tested against the best of human military aviation. This young man, despite being physically outmatched, uses his superior piloting skills – a talent honed by lessons from his car mechanic father, who could "feel" a car's troubles – to outwit his otherworldly foe. The father-son connection, even here, resonated deeply, showcasing a unique form of inherited skill and wisdom.

But here’s the kicker, the game-changer that blew my mind: you don't just "win" against a Predator and live happily ever after. Oh no. You defeat a Predator, and you get kidnapped and frozen, sometimes for hundreds of years! Why? To become one of the "Killer of Killers" – the elite few who have bested a Predator, now forced to fight each other to the death, with the ultimate victor facing an "ultimate Predator" that's three stories tall! It makes the Predators seem like cosmic bullies, forcing their champions into a brutal tournament. The Easter egg at the end? I won't spoil it, but let's just say a familiar face from a past movie is also frozen, waiting for their trial.

This movie opened up a universe of possibilities. It tells me there's so much more story out there, and importantly, it suggests that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Glover, having defeated Predators, are likely still out there, frozen, waiting for their call-up to the "Killer of Killers" arena! Imagine a sequel where the young lady from Prey, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Danny Glover team up as the ultimate "Killer of Killers Part Two: Electric Bugaloo!" I'm here for it!

The animation style, reminiscent of Blue-Eyed Samurai and even Spider-Verse, was absolutely perfect. The way the three distinct stories converged at the end was flawless, almost like an animated Animatrix. I loved it. I'm giving Predators: Killer of Killers an 8 out of 10 rating. The animation, the unique stories, the direction, the editing, the expansion of the Predator lore – it's all outstanding. Hulu, you truly did it again. Go watch it with your dad this Father's Day, it's a perfect fit!
