Idris Elba & Lorraine Toussaint Staring In Concrete Cowboy - Ep. 179

1. From Deadline: The Talk will remain dark this week and will return to originals next Tuesday. The daytime talk show had previously canceled its Monday and Tuesday live shows and was supposed to have a new episode tomorrow, March 17. Friday and Monday were already going to be pre-empted due to NCAA Tournament. The news comes amid shocking new allegations against Osbourne that she has used offensive language, including racial epithets towards former co-host/exec producer Julie Chen as well as lesbian slurs when referring to former co-host/exec producer Sara Gilbert. During Wednesday’s episode of The Talk, Sharon Osbourne became emotional and combative during a discussion with her co-hosts about how her public support for Piers Morgan following his comments about Meghan Markle is being perceived. Sheryl Underwood noted that “while you are standing by your friend, it appears that you are giving validation or safe haven to something that he has uttered that is racist.” Among his most incendiary remarks, Morgan said he did not believe Markle’s suicidal thoughts.

2. From Movie Trailers on Fandango: Concrete Cowboy is a 2020 American Western drama film directed by Ricky Staub, from a screenplay by Staub and Dan Walser, based upon the novel Ghetto Cowboy by Greg Neri, which is a fictionalization of the Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club and urban African-American horse-riding culture in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The film is about a 15-year-old boy from Detroit who is sent to live with his estranged father in Philadelphia and learns about the local urban cowboys. The film stars Idris Elba, Caleb McLaughlin, Jharrel Jerome, Byron Bowers, Lorraine Toussaint, and Clifford "Method Man" Smith. Concrete Cowboy had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13, 2020, and is scheduled to be released on Netflix on April 2, 2021. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 76% based on 42 reviews, with an average rating of 6.24/10. The website's critics' consensus reads: "Well-acted and solidly directed, Concrete Cowboy lassos old-fashioned uplift with its story of a father and son in a little-seen corner of American culture.

3. From CNN Business: The WallStreetBets community is moving beyond GameStop and AMC. But its latest investment target isn't a stock, bitcoin or even NFTs. It's gorillas. That's not monkey business. Members of the Reddit group — who gained national attention for their role in pumping up the January trading frenzy of GameStop (GME), AMC (AMC) and other meme stocks — rallied over the weekend to use their earnings to symbolically "adopt" gorillas through donations to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Why gorillas? It's a bit of an inside joke: WallStreetBets members refer to themselves and others on the page as "apes," as part of the group's internal lingo. The organization's CEO, Tara Stoinski, also posted a video to WallStreetBets, thanking the Redditors who were helping to fuel the donations. “HI WallStreetBets ... I was just made aware that you have been adopting gorillas through our website," Stoinski said in the video. "I just wanted to say thank you so much for this incredible support."
