Fantastic 4 Casting Rumors

A few weeks ago, Adam Driver (Kylo Ren/Star Wars) was rumored to be in talks to play Reed Richards a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic in the MCU’s Fantastic Four movie scheduled for 2025. Now Margot Robbie can be thrown into the conversation, as it's being reported that she’s had talks with Marvel to play Sue Storm. Robbie has a comic book movie experience with Harley Quinn and is playing Barbie this year. If the rumors were true, do you see Driver and Robbie as the leads of The Fantastic Four?

Writers Strike & Impact

TV and film writers in Hollywood voted to go on strike early Tuesday morning after failing to reach a deal with production companies on a new contract. First, let's rundown some of the facts of the situation and talk about what the writers are demanding.

WGA began its negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), the group representing Hollywood studios.

The goal, a fair contract that would help writers maintain sustainable careers.

Writers wanted roughly 2 percent of the profits made by the studios.

Overall budgets have rise, writer pay has declined by 4 percent over the past decade—23 percent when adjusted for inflation.

The shift of film and television to streaming has meant lower residuals (the money writers get paid when their shows are re-aired) and shorter seasons.

PROPOSALS

The AMPTP put forth stripping away protections for long-term employment (and attempting to create a single-day rate for comedy/variety writers)

WGA proposals would net total yearly gains of $429 million for 20,000 writers. ($21,450 each).

Netflix, Paramount, Comcast, Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros reported a total of $28–30 billion in operating profit each year from 2017–21.

In 2022 alone, eight Hollywood CEOs pocketed $773 million between them.
